Translation and interpretation of the Royal Armouries Tower Fechtbuch.

"Nota quod totus nucleus artis dimicatorie consitit in illa vltima custodia, que nuncupatur langort …" – the eponymous sentence for this book comes from the oldest surviving European fencing book of the Middle Ages, the Tower Fechtbuch. This manuscript dates form around the year 1300 and describes a detailed system for sword and buckler fencing.

Ultima Custodia contains a translation of the Tower Fechtbuch from Latin with interpretations, as well as an interprtation of the techniques as practiced by the sword and buckler group at INDES Graz (Association for Historical European Swordsmanship). This also includes tips on equipment, suggestions for training, exemplary combat sequences, presentations of the individual techniques, and a comprehensive glossary. The illustrations in this book are al designed and drawn by Bettina Sehner herself. Some to make the content easier to understand and others just to please your eyes.

The modern approach in this book enables easier access to the topic and can be used as a basis for your own ideas, training plans, or as a reference work.
