Ein Arbeitsbuch.
The manuscript Bibl. 2465 is a German Fechtbuch written by Joachim Meyer ca. 1561. The original resides in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich.
It contains instructions on the ue of the (long) sword, dussack, rapier, dagger, and polearms, like Meyer's substantially larger 1570 volume Gründtliche Beschreibung der Kunst des Fechtens. Unlike this later work the MS Bibl. 2465 also contains armoured fighiting techniques.
The mansucript was long considered lost, until Olivier Dupois discovered it in 2021. This edition by ethnologist and historical fencer Frank Walter from Würzburg is the first translation of Meyer's earliest work into modern German.
Meyer's didactic, but also many of the techniques differ substantially from his later works.
This book in A5 landscape format contains the complete text in modern German as well as blackk and white reproductions of the original illustrations.
